If you didn’t already know, Isla Palenque is bursting with natural resources which we plan to preserve, maintain and grow. One natural resource being bananas… apple bananas. Yes, apple bananas.
While spending a couple weeks on the island this past month, I became very fond of these. These apple bananas obviously run smaller than your average banana but they pack a lot of taste. They contain hints of both apple and strawberry and are typically found in subtropical and tropical regions, specifically Latin markets.
Just one of many different fruits and veggies that are and will be growing on the island and in our organic farm here at Isla Palenque.

I found a good rationale for eating fruit fresh, ripe, and locally-grown while in a warm-weather travel destination such as Panama and Belize from “A Belizean in the USA” Lyra Spang. Check out the article http://riceandbeansindc.blogspot.com/2008/01/edible-stars-and-other-tropical-wonders.html
