Panamanian President Martinelli is on an upward trajectory, and isn’t shy about letting everyone know. In this article from Panama-Guide, he predicts that Panama’s economy will grow as much as 9% this year.
Although not as wildly optimistic, experts agree that Panama will have a great year. The IMF predicts it will grow by 6.3% and the Economic Commission for Latin America says 7.5%, as reported in the Panama News recently. And even at the depths of the global economic downturn, Panama’s growth slowed, but it never saw a decline.
With the Canal expansion driving increased revenue and the new trade agreement with the U.S., and a 5% increase in tourism , it’s no wonder things are looking good. (Hat tips to Latin Business Chronicle and Newsroom Panama.)
Add to that some of the best infrastructure in Latin America and its no wonder Americans want to live and invest in this little country that could.
