Amble’s corporate office is in Chicago, and getting to our Panama resort site on Isla Palenque entails a stop in Miami or Houston before landing in Panama City, Panama. That will change later this year when Panama-based Copa Airlines (allied with Continental Airlines) begins offering daily non-stop flights from Chicago to Panama City. You can read the press release on Chicago’s website.
You can bet that a whoop went up in the office when the news came out this week! Fewer travel legs means shorter travel days for us, of course. It also means that we can start thinking of Chicago as a great place to find customers for our future island resort hotel and homes. It makes us happy to have this hometown connection, and we know it will make Chicagoans happy to get a break from Chicago weather on our stunning tropical island.
And Copa has also pledged to begin flights from Panama City to David – which is less than an hour from Isla Palenque. When this happens sometime in 2011, customers from Chicago can get to our secluded island on one ticket with only a quick stop in Panama City.
And there’s also the David airport expansion, which is well underway and which will some day allow international flights from the U.S. to fly directly to David, eliminating the Panama City stop.
All this movement towards more streamlined travel to Isla Palenque reflects what we’ve known all along — our pristine corner of Panama is an up and coming destination! I’ll leave it to our potential homeowners to speculate on what this will do to their property values…
