Over the weekend of August 27-28, 2011, we had the pleasure of hosting visitors from around the world during our first Open House on Isla Palenque. An island Open House is a little different from your typical neighborhood gathering – swap the bundt cake for freshly-cracked coconuts and add a few monkeys as guests!
To accommodate our crowd we entertained visitors both Saturday and Sunday, which made for a full weekend of island fun.
The day started in Boca Chica where guests were whisked away for a day of adventure.

Everyone enjoyed a relaxing start to the day, cruising through mangrove trees and checking out the gorgeous Gulf of Chiriqui. One lucky group was greeted by dolphins off the shore of Isla Palenque!
Upon arrival, guests strapped on their hiking boots and ventured into the jungle (guided by our Project Coordinator, Aris Almengor). Isla Palenque wildlife guides in hand, they had a chance to immerse themselves in the natural wonders of the island while learning about the flora and fauna.
The hike culminated in an insider tour of our Villa Inn site with Amble Resorts President Benjamin Loomis. He explained the design and amenities that will preview at our full-service Inn next year, and detailed the sustainable efforts behind construction on Isla Palenque.

Nothing works up an appetite like a jungle treck, so upon their arrival to Playa Palenque, guests were served Panamanian delights such as filet of Cason and sun-ripened Mamuchino, and of course our own special island rum punch.

A visit to Isla Palenque isn’t complete without some time on one of the many beaches. Visitors spent the afternoon swimming off the shore of Playa Palenque and sinking their toes in the volcanic sand.

It was a fantastic day on Isla Palenque – a perfect combination of exploration and relaxation and a great time was had by all. We enjoyed showing off our gorgeous island and celebrating a prolific summer on Isla Palenque! We love hosting visitors, so please get in touch if you would like to spend some time on the island.
