  • Wild Weekly Photo Challenge: Sunsets

Isla Palenque is a creative paradise… and sunset is when even the most pragmatic island explorers start to wax poetic.

Most of the images in this sunset slideshow are my own (I am a diehard sunsetographer – it’s something of a daily ritual at this point), captured with my iPhone4 camera or with a borrowed Canon EOS Rebel T2i. I did incorporate a few images taken by friends and coworkers on Isla Palenque, just to prove that nobody is immune to the impulse.

Maybe it’s because I spend a lot of time here and am able to experience lots of different conditions, maybe it’s because Playa Palenque sits so perfectly southwestward, maybe it’s something about the atmosphere as you get near the equator…

But damn, we get some great sunsets on Isla Palenque.

    1. Andreas — your advice for how to photograph a sunset is funny at first blush (steps “2. Find the sun” and “3. Take photos of the sun” particularly so), but you packed a lot of useful insight in your post too, as well as some stunning shots from Għajn Tuffieħa. Thanks for stopping by; hope you’ll do so again!

    2. I have put together some advice for readers who also wish to take beautiful sunset photos: http://andreasmoser.wordpress.com/2012/12/21/how-to-photograph-a-sunset/

    3. Great sunset shots from Isla Palenque! Hope to see you join in the current challenge for this week too – the theme is Macro Photography! http://www.letsbewild.com/photo-challenge/wild-weekly-photo-challenge-7-macro-photography/
